本书紧扣“中国文化走出去”战略需求，以培养具有文化自信和国际视野的英语人才为目标，系统编排中国思想经典的中英文对照选本及海内外学者评述。内容涵盖《易经》《论语》《道德经》等核心典籍全文及《金刚经》《坛经》精选章节，按早期经典、儒家、道家、佛家专题分章呈现，每章均附思想流派导读、经典文本研读和跨文化视角拓展三大板块。
教材创新引入国际学者对中国经典的现代诠释，如荣格的《<易经>序言》、安乐哲的《儒家自然宇宙论》、王尔德对庄子思想的浪漫主义解读等，通过中西对话揭示经典的当代价值。此外，本书还收录克里斯·默里关于儒家思想与英国浪漫主义的比较研究、伊丽莎白·哈珀的《庄子》欧洲接受史等跨文化案例，辅以辜鸿铭《中国人的精神》等经典论述，帮助学生构建双向文化解读能力，在语言学习中厚植文化传播使命。
本教材适用于英语专业本科“中国文化导论”“中国典籍外译”等课程，也适用于有一定英文基础、对中国经典英译感兴趣的读者。

张婷，四川外国语大学英语学院副教授，英语学院“中国文化走出去”特色实验班主要授课教师和项目参与人，“比较文学与世界文学”硕士生导师。研究方向为二十世纪西方文论、浪漫主义文学、比较文学。张婷老师曾获四川外国语大学优秀教学成果奖一等奖；其主持和参与的“中国文化走出去”实验班已培养多名优秀英语专业毕业生考入国内外名校攻读哲学、历史、文学、国别研究等专业的硕士、博士学位，为国家的“中国文化走出去”战略输送汇通中英文化的高端学术人才。
夏歆东，四川外国语大学英语学院副教授。研究方向为二十世纪西方文论、比较文学等，曾在国内外期刊发表多部学术论文。
